Erasmus+ meeting in Riga 2016

After months of very hard work 6 students from our project group took part in the Erasmus+ meeting in Riga. Agata, Laura, Paulina, Kamila, Julia and Michał worked in small international groups. Apart from work they had great time with their friends from different countries. Three teachers: Katarzyna Cieślak- Ostrowska, Piotr Matusiak and Damian Dziedziul worked with them during the meeting. Let's read their memories from the trip!

“It was my second time when I had this opportunity to participate in an international project Erasmus+, which the main meeting and summary of the work was placed this year in Riga. The hosts did a very good job. The Latvians are extremely warm and open people who stood up to the task so that we could feel in their country like at home. Every day we had lots of attractions such as the concert for Women's Day or visiting the Old Town of Riga, which combined the fun, integration and learning about new cultures. During the mornings and afternoons, we had a lot of project work but thanks to that I could improve my language skills at the advanced level using professional vocabulary and not only on the communicative level. 7 countries took part in the project: Poland, Latvia, Northern Ireland, France, Spain, Denmark and Germany so this mix of cultures with which I met, for example Spanish temperament or Irish immediacy, allowed me to put into perspective the world, to learn tolerance and at the same time to charge up positive, flowing from these people energy. The theme of this year in my workshop team was a job interview: how to prepare for it, how to get documents and how to behave during it. Certainly, many of these valuable pieces of advice I will save and use in future efforts to my dream job. Working in this project helped me at a young age to enter the business world and learn rules that govern it. It taught me teamwork, self-confidence and to open up to new experience, and what is the most important, it formed in me the desire for self-realization.” – Agata Nastalska

„This year I took part in Erasmus+ meeting for the first time. I am very happy because I could meet wonderful people during our project work in Riga. There we had to work the whole week in small groups which consisted of people from different countries. Thanks to this project we got knowledge about finding, applying and getting a job which can be useful in the future. Apart from working we could visit lots of interesting and unusual places. Living with Latvian families was very nice experience and we had to communicate with everyone in English. We could get to know the Latvian culture not only from books and stories. Everyday we got to know something new about all countries which took part in this project. The best side of this travel for me was the opportunity to meet people from the whole Europe and talk with them about everything.” – Laura Przydróżna

„The Erasmus+ meeting was un utterly valuable experience for me. It was a unique chance to to meet such amazing people from seven European countries in one place. During the week spent in a Latvian school, I made new friends with students whose nations were completely different. I got to know their cultures and shared my experience with them. My language skills developed because of a rewarding project work and communication in English. I gained new knowledge about succeeding in a job interview and writing a CV, too. It was my first time in Latvia and I will remember it for a long time. I spent there many marvellous moments. I could enjoy delicious Latvian cuisine, stunning views of an old town in Riga and time put into common preparation of presentations. The trip to Riga was un unforgettable adventure for me. I hope I will have a possibility to participate in a similar project in the future.” - Paulina Jarosz

„After spending a week in Riga I'm totally excited. It was a great adventure. For me, the biggest advantage of such projects is meeting new people from different countries, getting to know their culture and lifestyle. I just can belive how strong relationships with people can be after only a few days. It was a flawless trip. It was also a lot of work but in such company it was pure pleasure. I was at the meeting in Viborg last year and I'm keeping in touch with few people to this day. It is amazing. Despite the fact that it was my last year in project I'm not sad because it doesn't mean the end of this perfect international adventure. I want to stay in touch with my friends from other countries and maybe I will visit one of them after my final exams. With all my heart I recommend such projects for everybody who is curious about the world. Everything is at your fingertips, just reach for it.” – Michał Garbacz

„Going to Riga for Erasmus+ project was a great experience. It was my first time visiting eastern Europe and I noticed many differences. I met many amazing people with whom I will stay in touch for a long time. Through project work I got the opportunity to polish not only my language skills but also my communicative and acting skills as I was in the drama group. Latvia proved to be an interesting country with a surprising national cuisine. My host family treated me as if I had been their daughter. I enjoyed my stay in Riga because Latvian students were enthusiastic and eager to show us wonderful places. While we were preparing for our performance I bonded with the students from my group and we discussed the characteristics of our countries. Even though we all live in Europe we are not the same and Erasmus+ showed me that there are many things waiting to be discovered in the future if you travel and interact with people.” – Julia Jancelewicz

„I was able to take part in Erasmus project this year . The meeting took place in Riga. During my stay in this marvellous city, I got to know amazing people from different European countries. I significantly improved my language skills during the work with my team . The culture and traditional dishes of Latvia surprised me with their uniqueness. Living in a Russian family gave me a chance to learn a new language. It was such a pleasure to see the old town of Latvian capital which appealed to me as one of the most beautiful cities in the whole Europe. My knowledge about job interviews is wider now. I am also sure that friendships which I made during the project will last for a long time. I am really glad that I had the possibility to participate in this project.” – Kamila Bartoch
